It’s my birthday today!  What’s more, I have moved very definitely out of the realm of middle age, as I am now 60. Gulp. I know that age doesn’t mean anything, I know that you are as young as you feel (true!) and I love Wayne Dyer’s words ‘If you didn’t know how old you are, how old would you be?’

(The answer to that question varies, depending on how I feel!)

However, the fact remains that on the 14th September, sixty years ago, a new babe was delivered into the world – here’s a pic from when I was a few months old and another when I was about 3.

So I am CELEBRATING!  And I would love to invite you to celebrate with me, not in the usual way of giving you a discount off all my products, but instead to simply take a moment, right now, to ask yourself:

What, in my life, can I celebrate today?  And how will I do that?

Celebration doesn’t have to be a big thing (though I am going out for dinner this evening). It can be just a moment to toast yourself and what you are celebrating, a note in your journal or diary of what you are grateful for right now in your life, or simply a walk in the woods, an after lunch nap, or a phone conversation with an old friend. What’s important is the consciousness with which you take these actions – that is what makes it a celebration.

Do post what you are celebrating in the comments below and I will make sure to read all of them!

A very Happy Birthday, Jane, and a wonderful year ahead! Btw, be assured that 60 is middle-age, for sure. Remember that there is an increasing number of 100 plus people. So we need to change our perceptions of ageing and getting older and what it means. ( I have taught courses on Positive Ageing). I’m here to tell you there is definitely life over 60! And I’m celebrating the fact that I know how to look after and love myself.love, Shanx

Love that you are celebrating that Shan! And I love the idea of positive ageing too. I have a funny feeling that my sixties is going to be quite an amazing decade 🙂

Happy birthday Jane. I love your question about celebrating! Although the afternoon nap sounds good, I am going to simply count my blessings. One of these is that I am part of such a lovely community around me here in York, and the numerous ways we all support and hearten each other.
I hope you have a lovely day- it’s great to see childhood photos! X

Counting blessings – sounds so ordinary and yet it is so very powerful for whoever is doing the counting, and everyone else too! Love it – and the York community too…

    Dear Jane
Warmest good wishes to you for your birthday today. Having jumped into my 60’s on Valentine’s Day this year k can recommend it .
Looking forward to your visit to Perth (Western Australia) before you get to your 70’s.

    • Jane Duncan Rogers on September 14, 2017 at 3:32 pm

Ooh yes Catie – definitely a visit (or more than one!) within the next decade 🙂 Let us celebrate the thought of that – after all, everything starts with a thought 🙂

Hope you enjoy your special day Jane. glad to hear your father is improving, I am a bit of a stroke expert as my husband had his first stroke nineteen years ago on Friday 13th February. I am celebrating that we are still together & having a long & happy life.

Jane! happy 60th! You are beautiful, vibrant, kind, loving, and oh-so-talented. I am celebrating the fact that somehow, way far across the ocean, we happened to cross one another’s paths and that I’ve learned so much from you and that I’ve gotten to enjoy who you are! What a world we live in that allows for this kind of extraordinary connection! I’m also celebrating that your work has (and will continue to) brought me to life in new ways. Thank you for who you are + your beautiful spirit! ???

Happy birthday dear Jane. Though I am exhausted today, I have a roof over my head, and enough healthy delicious food, and work that I enjoy, and community, and good health- so much to celebrate. Plus my movie is almost done!
