Forres business woman says she felt late husband with her as she is crowned woman of inspiration

A Moray woman has scooped a prestigious accolade at a national awards ceremony.

Forres-based, Jane Duncan Rodgers, founder of Before I Go Solutions, claimed the title of woman of inspiration at the annual National Business Awards hosted by the Association of Scottish Business Women (ASB).

After losing her husband at the age of just 55, Jane wrote her first book ‘Gifted by Grief,’ which led on to founding her company ‘Before I Go Solutions’ in 2016. Jane and her expert team of certified end of life plan facilitators help people prepare well for a day that we will all eventually face.

“As the announcement was made, tears came to my eyes at the thought of my late husband Philip. I strongly felt that he was there with me right in that moment, cheering me on and feeling proud of me. Without both his life AND his death, none of this would have happened.”

Local networking group, Moray Business Women – which Jane is a part of – also picked up the award for affiliate club of the year 2023 at the awards, with three individual club members being shortlisted for awards.

Moray Business Women is a not-for-profit volunteer run organisation and committee members juggle the responsibilities of running the club alongside their own small businesses.

The club exists to support, inspire and connect women in their business lives. The events and activities of the club are aimed at helping women grow in confidence, both personally and in business.

Club president Ailsa Stinson from B is for Brand said: “It means so much to the whole club to be recognised at a national level. Within the club we already feel that we have something special. “This year, during our ‘Year of Networking and Collaboration’ we have met with other organisations from across the country, gaining many more connections, ideas and inspiration.

“In part we believe we’re receiving the award thanks to the work we’ve done to raise funds for our charity of the year SurfABLE Scotland. We’re absolutely delighted to be able to put their name out there on the national stage alongside ours – raising their visibility and hopefully some additional funds too!

“Affiliate club of the year 2023 is not just an award for the president or the committee, it’s an accolade that every single member can be proud of because it recognises the achievements and the ethos of the whole club. We always promise that at Moray Business Women, you’ll be ‘In good company!”

Moray Business Women are hosting their own award ceremony on November 25, at The Stotfield Hotel in Lossiemouth. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and the event is open to anyone who would like to come along and join in the celebrations.
